Eddie Vedder acha que o Pearl Jam ainda tem “um ou dois” discos bons.
Os roqueiros de 'Alive' lançarão seu 12º LP de estúdio, 'Dark Matter' no próximo mês e o desejo do cantor de 59 anos de continuar seguindo sua “paixão” só se fortalece à medida que ele envelhece, principalmente porque ele aprecia que ainda está por perto para aproveitar as oportunidades que alguns de seus colegas não têm.
Ele disse à revista MOJO: “Quanto mais velho você fica, melhor você vive no presente.
“O entendimento que você tem menos tempo é o maior número do quociente. O objetivo é continuar fazendo música.
“É a sua paixão, o seu propósito especial.
“[Nesta fase] você se apoia no relacionamento com as pessoas que ainda estão por perto. Você realmente percebe quando está em uma situação em que essa pessoa estaria lá. E você está triste por eles porque não são.
“Mas faz você perceber que precisa ser saudável. Você quer estar perto de seus filhos. Você quer fazer bons discos.
“E podemos ter um ou dois sobrando.”
Vários amigos músicos do grupo, incluindo Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley do Alice in Chains e Van Conner e Mark Lanegan do Screaming Trees, faleceram ao longo dos anos e Eddie insistiu que o estilo de vida das pessoas não é uma forma de saber quem será. "o último homem em pé".
Referindo-se à famosa foto de Mick Rock de 1972, ele disse: “Você se lembra daquela foto de David Bowie, Iggy Pop e Lou Reed? Quem você acha que teria sido o último homem de pé? Você não teria apostado em Iggy Pop. Então você nunca sabe.
E Eddie sempre se sentiu “seguro” dentro da “irmandade” de sua própria banda.
Ele disse: “É uma irmandade. Isso nunca esteve em dúvida.
“Pode ter havido alguns redutores de velocidade na estrada.
“Mas superamos isso cuidando uns dos outros. Dessa forma, nos sentimos seguros.”

The ‘Alive’ rockers will release their 12th studio LP, ‘Dark Matter’ next month and the 59-year-old singer’s drive to keep following his “passion” is only strengthened as he gets older, particularly because he appreciates he is still around to enjoy the opportunities that some of his peers aren’t.
He told MOJO magazine: “The older you get the better you are at living in the present.
“The understanding you have less time is the biggest number in the quotient. The goal is to keep making music.
“It’s your passion, your special purpose.
“[At this stage] you lean on the relationships with the people who are still around. It really hits you when you are in a situation where that person would be there. And you’re sad for them that they’re not.
“But it makes you realise you gotta be healthy. You want to be around for your kids. You want to make good records.
“And we might have one or two left.”
A number of the group’s musician friends, including Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley of Alice in Chains and Screaming Trees' Van Conner and Mark Lanegan, have passed away over the years and Eddie insisted people’s lifestyles are no way of knowing who will be “the last man standing”.
Referring to Mick Rock’s famous 1972 photo, he said: “Do you remember that picture of David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Lou Reed? Who do you think would have been the last man standing? You would not have bet on Iggy Pop. So you never know.”
And Eddie has always felt “secure” within the “brotherhood” of his own band.
He said: “It’s a brotherhood. That was never in doubt.
“There might have been a few speed bumps in the road.
“But we got through those by looking out for each other. In that way, we felt secure.”
