Sheryl Crow elogiou Taylor Swift como “uma potência” por regravar seus primeiros trabalhos.
A cantora de 62 anos revelou sua admiração pelo hitmaker ‘Shake It Off’ por voltar aos seus álbuns anteriores – como ‘1989’ e ‘Red’ – em um esforço para obter controle total sobre suas músicas antigas.
Falando à Esquire, ela disse: “Eu vejo o que Taylor Swift fez e penso: ‘Ela é uma potência’.
“O fato de ela ter encontrado soluções para não permitir que sua música gerasse dinheiro para outras pessoas, quando ela deveria ser a proprietária.”
A cantora de ‘Soak Up the Sun’ também admitiu que sentiu que era um desafio ser mulher na indústria musical dominada pelos homens.
Ela disse: “Não existe um manual sobre como navegar, como mulher, em um negócio que é predominantemente administrado por homens. Ou quando você tem uma mulher forte, como isso desafia os homens e seus sentimentos de importância.
"Fui aconselhado em diversas ocasiões a apenas diminuir o tom. Eu gostaria de calar a boca, mas não posso fazer isso."
Anteriormente, Sheryl – que lançou seu novo disco ‘Evolution’ hoje (29.03.24) – explicou que acredita que os álbuns são “uma perda de tempo e dinheiro” devido à popularidade do streaming.
Ela disse à edição de maio de 2024 da Red Magazine: “Ainda acho que [criar álbuns] é uma perda de tempo e dinheiro! As pessoas não ouvem discos como um trabalho completo, mas eu tinha todas essas músicas que pareciam muito oportunas... Então pensei: 'Tudo bem, não vou fazer um álbum convencional, pensando no começo, no meio e fim.' Em vez disso, é uma compilação de músicas novas.'”
A estrela country então compartilhou como ela encontrou conforto na música quando era criança.
Ela relembrou: “Foi o que eu frequentei quando todos os meus amigos começaram a beber e fumar maconha e eu me senti excluída.
“Era uma muleta de identidade e, quando chegou a hora de descobrir o que eu queria ser, a música era a coisa em que eu era bom.”

The 62-year-old singer has revealed her admiration for the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker for going back to her previous albums - such as ‘1989’ and ‘Red’ - in an effort to gain complete control over her old music.
Speaking to Esquire, she said: “I look at what Taylor Swift has done and think, ‘She’s a powerhouse’.
“The fact that she came up with solutions for how to not allow her music to be a moneymaker for other people when she should be owning it.”
The ‘Soak Up the Sun’ singer also admitted she felt it was challenging to be a woman in the male-dominated music industry.
She said: “There’s not a handbook for how to navigate, as a woman, a business that is predominantly run by men. Or for when you have a strong woman, how that challenges men and their feelings of importance.
"I have been advised on numerous occasions to please just tone it down. I wish I would shut my mouth, but I can’t do that."
Previously, Sheryl - who has released her new record ‘Evolution’ today (29.03.24) - explained that she believes albums are “a waste of time and money” due to the popularity of streaming.
She told the May 2024 issue of Red Magazine: “I still think [creating albums] is a waste of time and money! People don’t listen to records as a full body of work, but I had all these songs that felt very timely… So, I thought, ‘Okay, I’m not going to make a conventional album, thinking about the beginning, middle and end.’ Instead, it’s a compilation of new songs.’”
The country star then shared how she found comfort in music when she was growing up.
She recalled: “It was what I went to when all my friends started drinking and smoking pot and I felt left out.
“It was an identity crutch, and when it came time to figure out what I wanted to be, music was the thing I was good at.”
